Winchester Medical Center

Valley Health’s Winchester Medical Center, our 400+-bed award-winning healthcare facility, offers a full range of medical, surgical, diagnostic and rehabilitation services, and participates in a variety of top-notch clinical trials. Centers of Excellence include Heart & Vascular Services, Neurosciences, General Medicine, Bariatrics, Oncology, and Women & Children’s Services. These are exciting times at the Winchester Medical Center, in the heart of Winchester, Virginia! Our unprecedented $160 million expansion project is nearly completed, and will allow us to better meet the needs of our ever-growing community. In early 2012 we will open our new North Tower, which will include 48 state-of-the-art critical care beds, a 16-bed step-down unit, and a 20-bed observation unit in the further-expanded ED to help support our high-acuity services. An additional cardiac catheterization lab and 39 new CV prep/recovery rooms are all now fully operational on campus. We are also expanding our Women & Children’s Services, featuring our gorgeous new NICU and the latest in maternal-child care.

Winchester offers the only Level II Trauma Center in the region and serves as the tertiary services hub for Valley Health’s Shenandoah Valley corridor. We are also the only Level II Trauma Center and Certified Chest Pain Center with PCI in the region - and the only Acute Heart Failure Accredited Facility in the Commonwealth of Virginia! We are also a fully-certified Primary Stroke Center and hold full accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.

Winchester Medical Center Nursing is elated to be recognized as an American Nurse Credentialing Center Magnet Facility and operates a strong Shared Governance program through our Nursing Council. Our cutting-edge CVSICU is the proud recipient of the esteemed BEACON award. We can attract, retain, and empower our Nursing staff so that all can contribute to quality outcomes and to a true circle of wellness.
